"AT LEAST I TRIED"It's better to say "at least I tried" than depending your life on what ifs -unknown.
This quote describes exactly what I am struggling right now. When I took the USTET Admission Exam, I wasn't even nervous nor read some previous lessons that might help me. I wasn't expecting to pass it because I already knew that my parents won't allow me to study in a university miles away from our home but I still took it because something in me wants to prove that I can be independent and live outside of my comfort zone. When the results were released, I was very nervous compared to when I was taking the exam. I didn't even know why I was very paranoid that time while opening the website to see the results. And then, there was it. I passed and I knew everything would be changed and it does. For just a first semester, I'm already having hard times on my courses, living independently, time management and every college students experience, what more for the next more years. I took a risk and should hold on to it until my most awaited day of my life, the graduation day at the front of the main building of University of Santo Tomas. Posted by Kelly Ann Rueda "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass... It's about learning how to dance in the rain"Posted by Angela Pauline Yap "It's morphin' time Rangers!"At some point in the month of October I had this strange habit of posing as a Power Ranger. I know, strange but true.
I would also sing the theme song at some point. Now that I have passed that interesting phase I've come to realize why I did such a thing. One reason would be the homesickness that I have always hid through my calm facade. It's not that I miss home rather I miss the people who make it a home. Probably because when I was younger I would wake up early in the morning just to watch Power Rangers with my brothers. The other reason is... well, a showcase of bravery. We know that the Power Rangers are special people chosen to protect humankind and the world from evil. I feel that, since I'm currently in the next phase of my life (as an architecture student), I needed to exhibit a side that I have hidden back in my high school years. In other words, I finally sucked it up and have showed who I truly am. I am timid, that is true (it exhibited in my first week in college), yet I know that in order to survive that harsh life called Architecture I must stand up and put a brave face. Professors don't bend to your will you do, I told myself. They'll speak harshly of your work, criticize you for a reason you cannot understand, and pressure you so much you start bleeding; to not only survive but thrive in the harsh, cold corporate world you must know yourself and be your own hero. No one can save you but yourself in this reality. It may seem immature to compare myself to a hero in tights, yet hiding who you are is just as worse. For the past months I've felt comfortable in my own skin and I'm not afraid to show what I am capable of. So bring it on Evil Doers, because this ranger is ready to save the day (and kick you butts!). P.S. I'm done with the Power Rangers phase, so I moved on with a more fitting, more mature and more powerful superheroes - The Powerpuff Girls! (Sarcasm intended.) Posted by Shaira Irina V. Pama
Grammar 101 (SV Agreement) “Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.” ― Rudyard Kipling Verbs particularly are powerful words, as it conveys emotion and animation. Unfortunately because of ignorance, laziness or the combination of both, people of today have ignored the proper way in using their verbs, as it is deemed “uncool” or too formal. In reality, if you use incorrect grammar on a daily basis (even just for texting someone) you’ll get used to it and this will affect on how you will speak or write formally when the time comes. In order to help you recognize the common mistakes in subject-verb agreement, here is a list that I have learned during my English classes, showing some of the rules in subject-verb agreement. Singular and Plural Subjects

Amateur Calligraphy Starter written by Christine Donabel A. Aytona
I started as an amateur calligrapher around early April of this year. It started when I found beautiful letterings on the internet, especially on Instagram. It started on hand lettering then evolved into calligraphy. Hand lettering is making words pop with the use of flourishings and embellishments. Calligraphy is writing down letters with the use of a pointed pen or that one with a nib. I even had this phase last summer where I was really into the craft that I bought books, watched online tutorials and dreamt of being in an actual calligraphy workshop. I even made my own calligraphy nib out of an aluminum can! Up until today, I still haven't been to a workshop, so all the work I've done are self-taught. Teaching myself calligraphy was hard especially when I held a calligraphy pen and nib for the first time. It took time to get a hang with, but with patience and perseverance to learn and so I did. I don't know much tricks and I am still on the road to learning. I still have plans on taking workshops because I might learn more when I experience one of those. I am thankful for the people who appreciate this skill or talent because I don't get much acknowledgement for this. I still have a long drive away and still more to experience. |
